Job Title: Contract Tutor (K- 12 Reading, Math, Writing)

605 Tutor is a rapidly growing tutoring company specializing in high-quality, personalized, multi-sensory math, reading, and writing instruction in K- 12 education for the homeschool and private school markets. We are seeking friendly, caring, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and reliable tutors who are familiar with multi-sensory strategies for learning to join our team. This is a flexible position perfect for educators or professionals who want to make a meaningful impact on students' academic growth.

Areas of specialization we are looking for:

  • Reading Instruction: 

    • Key Words: Phonics, Science of Reading, Dyslexia Specialist, 

    • Programs: Barton Certified, All About Reading, UFLI, others.

  • Math Instruction

    • Key Words: Multi-sensory, songs, chants, picture memory, hands on manipulatives, elementary math, middle school math, high school math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2. 

    • Programs: Saxon, Teaching Textbooks, Math U See, RightStart, The Good and The Beautiful, Math with Confidence, others.

  • Writing

    • Key Words: sentence, paragraph, fiction, nonfiction, handwriting, typing, research paper, essay writing, 

    • Programs: IEW, others.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in reading, math, and writing for students in grades K-12.  You can choose your age range/specialty.

  • Develop customized lesson plans based on students’ individual needs and learning styles using the 605 Tutor approved curriculum choices.  A list will be provided.

  • Track and report student progress, providing feedback to parents and the company.

  • Maintain clear communication about session scheduling, student needs, and progress.

  • Create an engaging and supportive learning environment to motivate and inspire students.

  • Ensure prompt attendance and follow-through on all scheduled sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or field of expertise (or currently enrolled in a relevant program). 

  • Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of previous tutoring, teaching, or educational experience in the area you are tutoring is required.

  • Skills:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Willingness to work for a tutoring agency and adhere to agency requirements, processes, and standards.

    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

    • Patient, encouraging, and skilled at building rapport with students.

    • Strong knowledge of specialty area educational content.

    • Ability to deliver instruction using the 605 Tutor approved curriculum.

  • Technology

    • Phone and/or computer: For communication and to access and use Tutorbird to schedule, note, and track.

    • Online: Comfortable using online platforms for virtual tutoring, including virtual manipulatives and games.

  • Available for at least 10 hours per week. 

  • Ability to pass a background check.

  • Reliable transportation (for in-person tutoring).
